What are you doing down there?

As I have said, i am no skinny minnie. Thank god for some small favors. Today was not a good day to start with. I worked late last night and didn't get home until 2:30am. By the time I fell asleep, it was 5am. I slept until 2pm. I wanted to be up early so I could go try out my new girth on Louis, then go grocery shopping, then spend the evening relaxing in front of the fire.
So irritated, I went to the farm at 3:30p. I wasn't irritated when I got there but my day sucked and I wanted to get a ride before it started to get dark. In my rush I think I upset Louis. We didn't do our normal routine of a half hour grooming, and I didn't cinch my saddle tight enough.
I went out to the corral, tightened the girth again adjusted my stirrups and got on him. Went half way around and Louis spooked. I was able to control him but my saddle slid sideways and I landed on my right butt cheek and then my back. This is what I have been afraid of doing since I started this. Then next thing I see is Louis standing over me looking at me like  " What are you doing down there?" I had to laugh. Poor Lou felt so bad, he kept nuzzling my arm and pushing me. He is a good boy. I took my saddle off and adjusted it. We then walked around for a few minutes but he was still skittish. I don't know what spooked him and wasn't taking a chance of it happening again. So back to the barn we went. He went back to his stall and I sat my sore butt in the car. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Remember, if you fall off the horse, get back on him. I will tomorrow at 1p.

  1. Ouch! If I remember correctly, it's a long way down from a horse to the ground! Glad to hear you weren't more badly injured. I think I'd still be laying on the ground!
