Where Have You Been?!?!

I haven't posted in a while. I am sorry for that. Been alot going on around here. Since my last post, my hubs was terminated from his job ( not his fault) and is now on unemployment. he is looking for another job and that may take us out of Conn. Not that we would be missing anything about this state. Fuel here is being taxed to death along with everything else. They want to raise the state tax from its 6% now to almost 7%. Our new Governor is a liar and needless to say they should impeach him for what he is doing. Anyway, I had alot of plans for our future here, with one of them being selling the house and buying the one next door to my trainer but it may not happen unless the hubs gets a job. I am making ends meet but it leaves little right now. Timing is everything and I had less than 6 months left to be debt free. I will still make it but it will take a little longer than I wanted it to.
So on to good news, riding has gotten better. I did my first show with Brio yesterday. I had a lot of fun. I was extremely nervous until I actually got on him and then the nerves went away and we did our best. He was fantastic in the ring. We showed at the Connecticut Equestrian Center in Coventry Ct. I rained like there was no tomorrow but thank goodness for an indoor arena. We did Beginner Adult Walk Trot Equitation, Pleasure and Command. I was the only Western rider in the barn. Trust me when I say I stood out. Brio was so handsome in his western tack. This was a schooling show so I didn't have to be all blinged out. Although I did buy a maroon shirt for $5.00 at Wal Mart and had it custom embroidered for $25.00. I had gold horseshoes on the collar and gold horseshoes that looked like a horse walked across my shoulders. My shirt actually matches my straps on my saddle. I wore black jeans and my work boots. I looked pretty good.
So there were 5 of us in my class. I saw the judges walk over to my instructor to ask questions but didn't find out until the end what they asked her. They had no clue how to judge me (since I didn't have to post in my western saddle) in Equitation. So when it was over I got 4th place for it. On the other hand I got 1st place for Pleasure, 2nd place for Command( like Simon Says) and here is the kicker..... I got Reserve Champion for all 3 classes!!! I am still walking on Cloud 9. Cant wait for June 19th. I will be doing it again at the same place and hopefully getting the 4th place ribbon to a 1st place.
This is Mr. Brioso Brown (Brio) and I after the show... isnt he adorable?

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about your husband and hope that something comes up soon for him.

Congrats on your show!!! I rode in a schooling show a few years ago and had such a good time. Your Post brought back many fond memories.

Interesting on the judging. Where I live we have a pretty solid compliment of both English and Western so they separate the day of the show into half for Western and half for English. Love your pictures - Good job!

  2. I sure hope Mike is able to find something soon though I know the outlook is probably pretty bleak. This is a lousy time for anyone to be out of work - especially someone who wants to work like I'm sure Mike does.

Congratulations once again on your show results. Just goes to show that you most definitely know what you're doing!
