1st Ct. Governors Horse Guard

I spent yesterday in Avon Ct at the 1st Company of Connecticut's Governors Horse Guard Annual Horse Show. I thought i was riding at 1p or 2p but didn't ride until around 4p. Needless to say Brio was a dork due to being cooped up in his trailer all day and I should have gone with my gut instinct and let him out to graze an hour or 2 before I rode. I am not mad at him in the slightest. I then had to wear my chaps. They are 1 size too small so they were tight until I got in the saddle and then they were easier to deal with.  Ah yes getting into the saddle was interesting. Not only could I not bend my knee to get up but my poor hub had to lift me up to get me there so that was frustrating to me.My boots need gel insoles. I felt every stone on the property. Now you thing that Janet Jackson had a wardrobe malfunction? Mine was worse because not only did the zipper keep unzipping every time we had to jog but I lost my focus due to it and my hand placement was terrible because I had to continually zip up. So again I learned another lesson. Bring safety pins and a mounting block. I did walk away with some nice ribbons though. I was in 4 classes, all beginner walk trot. I received 3- 4th place and 1- 5th. Not bad I think...No more big shows though. I want to continue schooling shows. Less expensive for me right now.

  1. Good Job!!! I personally prefer schooling shows. It's a chance to visit with many of the parents and kids that we used to hang out with when our daughter showed. Just like me, many of the Mom's now show and their kids watch - pretty funny! So these shows are always a lot of fun, and for me, fun is important. :)
