Big Things Coming My Way

I have been a busy girl lately. I have another trainer, who is teaching me all about my golden boy. It is working out fabulously. He still tests me but not to the point where I get flustered and get off of him. I now know how to make him do what I want.  Yesterday for example, he didn't want to jog nicely so after a few minutes of fighting him, my brain clicked into gear and I made him jog 5 times around one of the jumps in the ring. That straightened him out for a while. Nice consistent jog around the ring. It was much easier to go into a lope when I asked for it too.

So I have been busy like I said. If you remember, I started out with a dressage saddle back last year at this time. We didn't get along and I fell off of Louis twice. Needles to say the dressage saddle and I parted ways and I bought a western saddle. Well all this time I have been heartbroken over the fact that I will never learn classical dressage with my (or any) horse. I also wrote about Western Dressage here and how I would have my cake and eat it too. I took it one step further. I contacted Western Dressage Association of America and at present time, I have sent in the Article of Incorporation, started looking for board members, and sent out the application for an EIN number from the IRS. With help from another, I am starting the Connecticut affiliation of Western Dressage. I cant wait till all the paperwork comes back and we can officially become a club. Cant wait to post our logo and start membership drives, clinics and such.
